Finishing refers to the tasks we perform after a job comes off the press. With thoughtful consideration and planning in the beginning stages, we are able to ensure your desired outcome on every project.
Folding
To make clean folds, many jobs require small variations in panel size. While they may look similar, the size of individual panels is adjusted slightly to accommodate paper thickness. It is also worth remembering that the more folds you have, the lighter the weight of paper required. Heavier stock may build up too much thickness to roll into itself a number of times, or wider scoring may be required to
minimize the possibility of cracking.
Don’t be offended if we ask if you’d like to see a paper dummy. We’re not implying anything about your intelligence. We’re just offering a preliminary layout made from blank sheets of paper. The dummy is folded and bound with the correct number of pages and folds to the desired weight, texture and color to provide an accurate representation of the end result.
Binding
Binding is the final step. We offer several binding options, however, these options must be weighed early in the design process because it can affect the layout, printing, folding and trimming of the product, as well as the overall budget.
Below is a list of some of the binding options we offer:
- Perfect Binding (book-binding)
- Saddle-stitch (stapled in middle)
- Wire-o / Spiral / GBC
- Glue or Padding
- Wrap-around covers
